1. Who we are

MobiDokta is a device repair service operated by MobiDokta (Pty) Ltd (Reg. 2025/627703/07). Our website is www.mobidokta.co.za.

We are a responsible party under the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013 (POPIA). This policy explains how we use cookies and similar technologies on our website.

2. What are cookies?

Cookies are small text files placed on your device when you visit a website. They allow the website to remember information about your visit — such as your language preference or whether you have consented to analytics tracking.

3. What cookies we use

Category Cookie / Technology Purpose Can you opt out? Duration
Essential md_consent_v1 (localStorage) Stores your cookie consent decision so the banner does not reappear on every page visit. No — required for the consent system to function Until you clear browser data
Analytics Google Analytics 4 (_ga, _ga_*) Tracks page views, session duration, and button clicks (including WhatsApp booking clicks) to help us understand how visitors use the site. No personal data is sold or shared with third parties for marketing. Yes — via the consent banner Up to 2 years

We do not use advertising cookies, social media tracking pixels, or any other third-party tracking beyond Google Analytics.

4. Legal basis under POPIA

Under POPIA's Processing Limitation condition, we may only process personal information with your consent or for a legitimate purpose that does not require consent.

5. Your rights

Under POPIA, you have the right to:

6. Cross-border data transfers

Google Analytics stores data on Google's servers, which are located outside of South Africa (primarily the United States). This cross-border transfer is permitted under POPIA where the recipient country or organisation offers adequate protection. Google's Data Processing Terms include standard contractual clauses that satisfy this requirement.

7. Data retention

Google Analytics data is retained for 26 months by default in our GA4 property. Our consent audit log is retained for 5 years in accordance with POPIA best practices (duration of processing plus 3 years).

8. Third parties

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with any third party for marketing purposes. The only third party receiving data from your visit is Google (via Analytics), and only if you have consented.

9. Contact the Information Regulator
